Liam & Alejandra: Kenosha Wisconsin
This is my third year teaching English to the sweetest, heart melting, Spanish speaking students . Everyday I leave the house with a smile knowing that my day will be full of joy as I have the privilege to encounter the little souls of the dual language school. I come back with stories from the day that I retell to my family and really anyone who will listen. It really has been the best time of my life. I also have had the privilege to work with many Mexican women who have coached me on how to make carnitas and how to speak Spanish. I have grown to understand and appreciate Mexican traditions that I knew so little about such as Dia de los Muertos ( totally not halloween as I assumed ( my bad) but rather a beautiful tradition of remembering loved ones who have passed on by gathering photos and the food and things that they loved on earth) and rosca de reyes ( this is a cake eaten on Three Kings day. There is a baby Jesus hidden in the cake and if you get it in your piece, well you have to do something for someone. ) This has been such a special time in my life.
I recently got to photograph our first grade teachers wedding where many of my coworkers came. The ceremony and reception were bilingual and some of food was authentic mexican. It was the first time at a wedding where Andrew wanted to get seconds. My husband kept telling me It looked like I was having fun. I was because these people are my people and Im so blessed! Have a look at Liam and Alejandra’s wedding photos and video. They have a really cool story in that they were born on the same day in the same hospital but didn’t meet until they were in China on a college trip. I love these two love birds. Some of the nicest people in this world!
